Freshman AdmissionsGeneral Information | Selection Process | Residency | Prerequisites | Application | Testing | Notifications General InformationApplicants to the 9th grade class at TJHSST that will enter TJ in September 2010 must be in the 8th grade in 2009-2010 in any public or private school and must live with a parent or legal guardian who resides full time in, and meets all of the residency requirements of, one of the Northern Virginia school divisions that participate in TJHSST. Applicants also must be enrolled in Algebra 1 or a higher level math course to be considered for admission, unless the Admissions Director has waived that requirement for the applicant. (For information on how to request an Algebra 1 waiver, go to Eligibility.) There are two rounds of freshman admissions for TJHSST: winter and summer. The majority of students who are admitted to TJHSST are admitted during the winter round of freshman admissions. Students and families who live in any participating school division before September 30, 2009 must apply to TJHSST during the winter round (application deadline of October 23, 2009). These students are not eligible for the summer round. Students who move from a non-participating school division to a participating school division after September 30, 2009 are eligible to apply for admission during the summer round (application deadline is June 1, 2010). See Summer Round for more information about that process and its requirements. IMPORTANT DATES FOR 2009-2010 (WINTER ROUND)
