Timothy, Class of 2011
"Science and engineering have always been my academic passions. By choosing to attend TJ, I felt that I would provide myself with the best environment to pursue these passions and to achieve a balanced education across the board. Personally, I knew that I always wanted to pursue something related to science. Whether that would be a doctor, engineer, or research scientist, I had no idea and have yet to decide."
Pranita, Class of 2012
I have been really interested in science and technology since I was in elementary school and I thought that attending TJ would be a great way for me to pursue those interests.”
Alexandria, Class of 2012
“The STEM areas were always my favorite subjects in school, so when I found out about TJ I knew I wanted to go there. After seeing all of the research being done at TJ's Open House, I knew that I would love to be a part of the TJ community--where research opportunities are endless.”
Maggie, Class of 2013
“My favorite subject was math and I knew that TJ was an excellent school that would provide me the best possible educational experience.”
Jamie, Class of 2014
“I wanted to be able to focus on learning the things I was interested in as well as to be around other like-minded people.”
Sam, Class of 2014

- “Most TJ students are very academically involved and participate in a variety of extracurricular (activities).”
- “I would say that the typical TJ student is hard-working, driven, and very unique!”
- “You are surrounded by people that motivate you.”
- “The environment at TJ fosters creativity and encourages me to be myself. You can always find a group of students who share your interests.”
- “The truly priceless part of the TJ experience is the students you interact with every day. They really do become your second family, and being with these incredible high school students every day will inspire you to pursue your passions, whatever they may be, with greater zeal than you imagined possible.”
- “Analyze everything you read, even if it is in the newspaper or the internet.”
- “Get familiar with the type of problems on the TJ test.”

- “Use practice tests.”

- “Don't apply because you feel like you have to.”
- “Do something interesting that differentiates you from other applicants.”
- “It is crucial to have strong answers.”
- “Make sure you have one teacher that really likes your work, do something different in his or her class that really stands out. For example, in my class, we had a project that we had to make a poster and do some other stuff. As a prospective TJ student, instead of making a poster, I made a website!! And my teacher that was about to write my recommendation LOVED it.”
