Final Admissions Decisions Mailed on March 30
Final decisions for the Class of 2016 admissions process were mailed on Friday, March 30. Please be aware that it can take anywhere from one to ten days for mail to reach students in the Northern Virginia area. If you are concerned about mail delivery, please check with your local post office.
If you do not receive your notification by close of business on Monday, April 9, 2012, the parent/legal guardian listed on the application (not the applicant) should call the Admissions Office beginning Tuesday, April 10, at 571-423-3770. Please do not call before that date. If you must leave a voice mail message, please provide the following information:
- Your name;
- Applicant’s name;
- Applicant’s I.D. number;
- The school the applicant attends; and
- Telephone number where you can be reached during business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.).
If you have moved since submitting your application and have not updated your address with the Admissions Office, your notification letter may be delayed. Please note that notifications will not be provided over the phone for any reason until Tuesday, April 10, 2012. The Admissions Office does not provide notification by email.
We know that there are many students and parents who are understandably disappointed that they (or their student) could not be offered admission to TJHSST at this time. Unfortunately, because we can only admit 480 students each year, we invariably must inform many very high achieving students who could be successful at TJ that they cannot be offered a seat in the freshman class.
The administration and staff at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology are not involved in any way in making admissions decisions for the incoming freshman class. The TJHSST Admissions Office is tasked with the responsibility of administering the process and of ensuring that every applicant is treated equitably and fairly. We (the Admissions Office staff) have worked many long hours this year to make sure that every stage of the admissions process has been administered accurately and fairly for all applicants. Please understand that the Admissions Office cannot change any final admissions decisions. We do not consider any appeals of final admissions decisions.
All admissions decisions are final.
