64-Bit Workstation Image

The workstations that used to be along the wall of the Machine Room, as well as all of the new workstations, have been updated with a new 64-bit image. This is currently in testing, and we would like your feedback. If you find any errors, crashing programs, bugs, etc., please file a new bug request at https://bugs.tjhsst.edu. We would gladly appreciate your feedback, as it will no doubt help the usability of the workstations. Thanks, –The Sysadmins

AFS Server Slowness

Update 2009/03/08, 3:16PM: I received a report over the weekend that the AFS servers weren’t actually doing that much better during the day. I’ve finished the volume moves for now, and will wait to hear how they do tomorrow during school. We are in the process of getting a new storage array for AFS, which will triple the amount of space available, and will also increase maximum disk speeds from 160MB to 320MB.

2009-2010 Student Systems Administrators

Please pardon the lateness of the announcement of the Sysadmins for next school year. I would like to have these out by the end of April at the very latest, so we can train the up and coming admins. -The Sysadmins
