Welcome to the TJHSST Computer Systems Lab Systems Administration page.

Scheduled Maintenance on 9/13/2008

Maintenance will be performed on a number of services Saturday evening. Mailing lists, the TJ website, Intranet, and e-mail will be affected. We apologize for any inconvenience this will cause.

Sun Ray Backend Maintenance

Maintenance on the backend Sun Ray Network is almost complete. Logan, Ohare, Dulles, and Seatac have undergone Operating System (OS) maintenance to maintain security and upgrades of the firmware. Please direct all questions at: sun (at) tjhsst.edu

Sun Ray Network Downtime

The Sun Ray Network will be temporarily offline on August 30th from approximately 8:00PM to 12:00AM August 31st. The Sun Ray servers will be upgraded for the coming school year. Please direct all questions to: sun (at) tjhsst.edu. Thank you for your cooperation.

File Server Outage

At about 12pm today one of the main Syslab fileservers crashed. It was brought back up within 20 minutes. We apologize for this inconvenience and are investigating what caused it.

Sun Ray Server Maintenance Completed

Maintenance for the 4 production Sun Ray servers has been completed. These servers are now up-to-date and will be used for TJ summer school.

Sun Ray Server Updates

The four production Sun Ray servers (centauri, deneb, sirius, vega) will be down this weekend for patching and routine maintenance. Maintenance will start at around 1200 on Saturday and should be completed within a few hours. This will be the last time they are updated before TJHSST Summer School starts, and will stay up until summer school finishes.

Please contact me at: srepetsk(at)tjhsst.edu if you have any questions and/or comments.

Mirroring Update

Our new mirror running on two Dell PowerVault storage arrays (22F & 660) is now mirroring the "debian-cd" and "ubuntu-releases" repositories, along with Blastwave (solaris software) and sunfreeware. Pick up your favorite software from http://mirror.tjhsst.edu or email suggestions for new repositories to: sun (at) tjhsst.edu

CSL Maintenance Complete

Maintenance was completed during 8th period today. Many services experienced short outages, but this was to be expected. All public services should be available at this time. Some backend services are not yet online yet, but these will be fixed tomorrow.

3/12 Maintenance

Maintenance previously scheduled for 3/1/2008 is now scheduled for 3:50 on 3/12/2008. All external services provided by the CSL (web, Intranet, mail, etc) should stay up for the time being. They will experience short outages as cables are being redone.

All workstations in the CSL will be affected. Users will not be allowed to login to these workstations. All computers in 231 should stay online.

All services should be back online by 6:30pm at the very latest. Thank you for your cooperation. Please direct all questions at Trey Repetski (srepetsk (at) tjhsst.edu) if you have any.

Scheduled Maintenance

Tentatively scheduled for 1 March 2008, all Computer Systems Lab services will be down for the installation of a new switch. This includes all UNIX files, the Intranet, TJ Mail, Sun Global Desktop, and all other backend services supported by the CSL. These will be scheduled to start around 1pm, and may finish anywhere between 2pm and 4pm. More information on this will come later. Windows workstations will not be affected.

Questions and comments may be directed at Trey Repetski (srepetsk@tjhsst.edu) or William Yang (wyang@tjhsst.edu).
