CSL System Update

Our continued apologies for any systems that might still be impacted by the air conditioning outage. The Syslab air conditioner has still not been fixed to our knowledge, and there is no ETA as to when it will be done.

CSL System Update

We have received word from the County that they have had to order replacement parts for the air conditioning unit, and it will hopefully be fixed on either Tuesday or Wednesday. At the moment, we currently have all services functioning at reduced capacity. Thank you in advance for your continued patience. --The Sysadmins.

CSL System Status

Due to a failure of the CSL Machine Room AC Unit, we are currently consolidating production services onto fewer machines in an attempt to maintain an operational environment for the servers. As a result, some systems may be running a little slower. At this point, we are making every effort to keep all production services online but it remains to be seen how long it will take for this problem to be resolved. As a result of the higher temperatures, we are also having some intermittent stability issues. We are sorry in advance for any disruptions and thank you for your patience. We will continue to provide status updates as we get more information. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at sysadmins (at) tjhsst.edu. Thanks

Intranet2 goes 1.0

The Intranet development team is pleased to announce that we have now reached version 1.0. The last time we updated was in September, and since then we've fixed over 20 bugs and added several new features, such as eighth period favorites and email updates for announcements. We also made several user-interface tweaks in filecenter and eighth signup, so be sure to check those out.

Massive downtime on CSL services today

Sometime today all CSL services will be going down for network maintenance. Webmail, Intranet, the main website, remote SSH access, Sun SGD, and club websites will ALL experience outages. Please plan ahead. Thank you.

64-Bit Workstation Image

The workstations that used to be along the wall of the Machine Room, as well as all of the new workstations, have been updated with a new 64-bit image. This is currently in testing, and we would like your feedback. If you find any errors, crashing programs, bugs, etc., please file a new bug request at https://bugs.tjhsst.edu. We would gladly appreciate your feedback, as it will no doubt help the usability of the workstations. Thanks, –The Sysadmins

AFS Server Slowness

Update 2009/03/08, 3:16PM: I received a report over the weekend that the AFS servers weren’t actually doing that much better during the day. I’ve finished the volume moves for now, and will wait to hear how they do tomorrow during school. We are in the process of getting a new storage array for AFS, which will triple the amount of space available, and will also increase maximum disk speeds from 160MB to 320MB.
