Overview

The HP Proliant DL380 G4 Server is a 2U rackmount server utilizing dual Intel Xeon processors with hyperthreading.

History

Three of these servers were purchased for the lab in September 2005. Currently, these are named magellanic, royal, and fiordland.

Notes

  • The Linux driver tg3 is used by default when installing Debian on these servers, but it is recommended to use the bcm5700 driver (use module-assistant to install), as it has proven more reliable.
  • Although they do not have the hardware assisted virtualization extensions, these processors are 64bit capable.
