Hardware Replacement Roadmap

From Livedoc - The Documentation Repository

Jump to: navigation, search

This is a scratchpad for listing hardware replacement objectives for each school year. Note that server replacements actually mean a shift from primary production servers to secondary production or testing servers. Secondary servers are retired as they fail or are no longer needed. Battery replacement for UPSes is implied unless otherwise indicated. The schedule may be accelerated in the event that donations or grants put newer equipment into production.

Some items are marked "do not accelerate." This means that they shouldn't be moved earlier under normal circumstances since they would end up getting replaced before they were of a decent age. Extraordinary circumstances include expected budget shortfall or nothing else is a higher priority.

Note that this schedule is very likely too optimistic, based on news of continuing budget cuts in upcoming fiscal years.
