Notes
- Unless a keyboard is plugged in, humboldt will hang at the BIOS when starting up or rebooting. Unless you know there is a keyboard plugged in, please do not reboot humboldt.
- In the event of a power outage, humboldt will automatically come back online, starting all of the virtual machines per the configuration in /etc/vz/conf. If you need a virtual machine to boot on machine startup, remember to use vzctl with the --onboot switch (and the --save switch to save the setting).
- The power supply for humboldt is located near the front of the case. The power cord goes through the inside of the box and out the back.
- Even though humboldt has space for three hot-swappable hard drives (theoretically four, but we don't have an enclosure for a hard drive and the spot is taken by a floppy), the hard drives are NOT hot-swappable. At the beginning of the 2006-2007 school year, humboldt's scsi died, so the hard drives are now connected using IDE.
- Humboldt's BIOS is EXTREMELY slow, even with quickboot enabled, so please do not play around with it unless you have a lot of time on your hands.
