NTP
From Livedoc - The Documentation Repository
NTP is a protocol to synchronize the clocks between various computers. In the CSL we currently run two NTP servers: ntp1 and ntp2, which are currently hosted by franklin and royal, which are synced to tick.usno.navy.mil and tock.usno.navy.mil.
To sync to the CSL's NTP servers, just put the lines
server ntp1.tjhsst.edu server ntp2.tjhsst.edu
In /etc/ntp.conf, and delete all other "server" lines. All machines in the CSL should be synchronized to ntp1 and ntp2. Currently, the workstations are synced just before the bell rings, to ensure a synchronized bell sound, in addition to the standard ntp outlined above.
