Summer School 2013 Information

Please note that due to TJ renovation, summer school will be held at W.T. Woodson High School this year.

Academic Summer School

What Academic Summer School Course Offerings
When July 8-August 8, 2013 for full-year courses
Hours 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Who Currently enrolled TJHSST students and incoming freshmen/ froshmores
Tuition $820 (full-year courses), $420 (semester courses)
Transportation $275 (full-year courses), $138 (semester courses). Pickup and drop-off times will be e-mailed after June 7. Transportation information.
Refunds Last day to receive a refund is July 12, 4:00 PM. This applies to transportation as well as to tuition. All refunds will reflect the amount of tuition, less $40 processing fee. Refund information.
Attendance Requirement Students are required to attend class daily for the duration of the entire course.

Attendance is mandatory to receive credit.
  • Students taking full-year classes will be automatically withdrawn if they are absent for more than 2 days (780 minutes), for any reason.
  • Students taking '20th Century History' and 'America and the World Since 1989' will be automatically withdrawn if they are absent for more than 1 day (390 minutes), for any reason.
  • Attendance is recorded to the minute and all absences/tardies are cumulative.

register on March 11-June 7, or until classes are filled (first come, first served). Applications may be downloaded starting March 11.

Completed registration forms must be submitted in person to Elizabeth West in the main office (no faxed, emailed, or mailed applications will be accepted).

Incoming Freshman

register during TJ registration night on April 23, 2013. Please note: Freshmen are only eligible to enroll in World History/Geography or Geometry.

Forms will not be accepted prior to Freshman Registration Night.

Additional Information
  • Due to TJ renovation, summer school will be at W.T. Woodson High School this year
  • All courses offered in the summer will carry the same expectations as those taken during the school year and will carry honors weighting, with the exception of World History.
  • Students may only take one course in the summer, either online or on-campus.

Summer employment opportunities for TJHSST Students!

There are a limited number of positions open for summer IT work at W.T. Woodson High School. The primary responsibility is to provide level one tech support for the summer school office helping with tv and vcr/dvd connections, projector display, computers not working, mobile cart assignment and management, printers and scanners. In addition, students will assist the IT staff in summer duties: moving computers, setting up computers, installing components in computers, testing infrastructure lines, checking inventory, and other duties as assigned.

Summer Tech Institute

Where W.T. Woodson High School
What One-week Science and Technology Courses that explore some aspect of science and/or technology.
When July 15-August 9, 2013
Courses last for one week. Students may enroll in only one course per week.
Hours 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM
Tuition $200 per week
Transportation $55 per week. Pickup and drop-off times will be e-mailed after June 7. Transportation information.

Who Rising 8th and 9th graders (these courses are intended for students who will be 13-14 years old on or before September 30th, 2013)
Online Registration Registration through ACE opens March 11, 2013 at noon and ends June 7, 2013, or once the course is full. Students registering after the deadline may be considered on a case-by-case basis. No walk-in registrations are accepted. Registration is online only. Access the registration site.
