High School Bhangra Bash 6
Coming Soon!
Bhangra, a dance form that originated in the state of Punjab at the heart of India, celebrates the harvest. Today, it is performed all over the world, especially competatively in USA, Canda, Europe, Australia, and India. The India Literacy Project and TJ Namaste together started a local high school bhangra competition, Bhangra Bash in 2007 to encourage the same college and international level of Indian performing arts at the high school level. The India Literacy Project is an organization which seeks to improve literacy rates in India, especially for children, and all profits from Bhangra Bash go to ILP's mission. All schools in the Northern Virginia and surrounding areas are welcome to participate, and all are welcome to attend and celebrate Bhangra. All official event information can be found on ILP's website at http://www.ilpnet.org/dc/htm/event_bhangra_2011.htm

Clubs have booths with food, drinks, and other items while students perform music and dance items and play on the Slip N' Slides, Moon Bounces, and sports! Namaste sells samosas and mango juice, performs a Bhangra dance item, and holds sign ups for the following year. If you'd like to get involved, please contact us with your interest and information.
