One Week

TJ's Annual Service Week is kicking off on February 17th at I-Nite, and continues until Monday the 27th during 8th period.

Service Week is a time in which all TJ students challenge themselves to make a difference in the community.

Community

Service week is about taking the initative to give back to the community that allows Jefferson to thrive.

Action Africa

We will collect toiletries for an orphanage in Kenya who we have pen-pals with.
French Honor Society

Donations and supply drive for Hope for Haiti Foundation.
Building a Better Community

Fundraising for Brian Hernandez-Chavez, a Weyanoke student who was tragically struck and killed by a DUI driver.
GSA

Tie-dye towels and bedsheets for LGBT Youth Shelters in DC and NY. People can bring in a towel, bed sheets sets or possibly buy one from the club.
Awesome Association

Donate used electronics to a local charity.
TJ ASL

Sock drive, gloves, mittens, clothing drive.

Assistive Technology Club

Picture book/children's book drive.
FBLA

Will be raising money for March of Dimes, a charity that helps prematurely born babies.
Environmental Impact Club

TJ EIC is sponsoring a "Pro vegetarian" week to spread awareness about the environmental & health benefits of vegetarianism as well as sponsoring Powerdown Day.
Codi's Hats and TJ Runway

We are sponsoring a 2-block event on wednesday to decorate hats for children in hospitals.

Jean drive and poster for eating disorder awareness (be comfortable in your own genes).
NHS

Decorating cookies & donating to homeless shelter or food pantry.

Hispanic Alliance

Hispanic Alliance will be making Maracas to donate to Inova Children's Hospital.

Photo booth to raise money for charity.
German Honor Society

German Honor Society will be doing a drive for toiletries that will go to the Alternative House in Vienna, that houses abused or homeless children.
FCA

We are doing a service drive for care packages for soldiers. We are collecting items during the week and on Wednesday and Friday we are writing letters to soldiers for the packages
VSA

The Vietnamese Student Association is purchasing and donating thirty white canes to a school for the blind in central Vietnam. The canes will help the kids learn to orient themselves in their environment and move independently.

Writing stories for children in hospital.

Colors for a Cause

Each day of the week of Tuesday, February 21, the TJ Community will be dressing in a different color to create awareness for a cause.

Tuesday 2/21: GREEN.

Save Energy through Environmental Impact Club's Power Down Day.

Wednesday 2/22: NAVY BLUE.

Every year, FBLA raises money for the March of Dimes to help save prematurely born babies. Wear navy blue to raise awareness for this amazing cause, and help us reach our goal of raising $4000 to donate at this year's March for Babies event.

Thursday 2/23: RED.

Help Action Africa raise AIDS awareness and help AIDS healthcare.

Friday 2/24: PURPLE

Support Relay for Life, Gay-Straight Alliance, and the Healthy Relationships Initiative all by wearing one color: Purple.
