2011 Graduation DVD Order Form
Saturday night's Class of 2011 Graduation Ceremony will be videographed by Memories, a professional videography company. For your convenience, a copy of the order form is attached. This form will also be provided on Thursday during the seniors' graduation rehearsal and on Saturday with each diploma. Orders can be placed with the videography company representative who will be at the Patriot Center after the ceremony on Saturday night, or by mailing the completed form to the address listed on the attachment.
HAZE Programs
Fairfax County and the Unified Prevention Coalition of FCPS and its Countrywide Initiative to Reduce Underage Drinking (CIRUD), in collaboration with the Fairfax County Police Department and Safe Community Coalition, are sponsoring a program called HAZE which features a movie and panel discussion about alcohol and binge drinking by college students. This program is free and open to the public.
Proposed Slate of Officers for the TJ PTSA Executive Committee for 2011-2012
The following slate of officers was presented to the members of the PTSA at the PTSA meeting on Thursday, April 7, 2011:
- President: Denise Bunting (2011, 2012, 2014)
- Vice President: Celeste Fritzson (2013)
- Vice President: Amy Shaw (2014)
- Treasurer: Frances Kim (2014)
- Recording Secretary: Jane Li (2009, 2014)
- Corresponding Secretary: Jean Lee (2009, 2013)
This proposed slate of officers will be presented for a vote at the general meeting of the PTSA on May 12, 2011. Newly elected officers will take their office at the close of the meeting. In the case of absence or inability of the President to act during her term of office, the designated order of officers to perform the duties of president is Celeste Fritzson as first vice-president and then Amy Shaw as second vice-president.
PTSA Executive Committee Nominations
PTSA Officers -- The Nominating Committee is seeking nominations for the six elected positions on the TJ PTSA Executive Committee for the 2011-2012 school year: President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, and Treasurer. In order to provide continuity and experience, we anticipate that perhaps 2 - 4 of the current officers will serve another year in some capacity.
Any PTSA member with the willingness and ability to serve and provide leadership is welcome to apply. (Note: PTSA by-laws require that a person may be nominated for president only if he/she has served on the executive board for at least one term.) PTSA members who want to nominate someone else for an office may do so, with the nominee's permission. The deadline for nominations is March 18, 2011.

Race to Nowhere Follow-Up at Langley HS
On March 22nd at 7:00pm, the Langley HS PTSA Family Network Committee, in partnership with the Safe Community Coalition (SCC), will offer RESPONDING TO RACE TO NOWHERE with Dr. Bill Stixrud, a well-known local clinical neuropsychologist. Come hear his ideas about how we can help our teens and our families achieve balance. This event is free and open to the general public, and is located at Langley HS, 6520 Georgetown Pike, McLean.
Latest News about film Race to Nowhere!
IMPORTANT UPDATE All FCPS activities have been cancelled this evening, Jan. 11, due to the anticipated snow that should reach our area later this afternoon. The Race To Nowhere event has been rescheduled to Wednesday, February 2nd at 7:00pm at Langley High School. Tickets purchased for today's event will automatically be honored for the February 2nd snow date.
The Langley HS showing of the film Race to Nowhere for January 11th is
sold out, so no tickets will be sold at the door. Tickets are available
for the upcoming showings at McKinley ES in Arlington, on January 28th,
and Madison High School in Vienna, on Wednesday, February 9th. To obtain

TJ directories will be available for sale on Back to School Night, October 6th. If you'd like to prepay for your directories and pick them up at school click here.
Graduation Photos and DVDs
The school contracted with a photographer and videographer for the graduation ceremony. DVDs of the ceremony can be ordered using this form. The photographer took pictures of each student as he/she received a diploma. Proofs will be mailed to you, along with an order form.
Virginia PTA Proposed Legislative Program 2011
The 2011 Virginia PTA Proposed Legislative Program (PLP) this year include proposals to encourage students to walk and bike to school, to create more gang-free zones, to provide gun safety instruction, and to impose limits on charter schools. Navigating TJ - Wednesday, September 22nd
On Wednesday, September 22nd, 7:30 PM in the auditorium, a panel of long-time TJ parents will provide advice and answer questions about how to be a TJ parent. This event is open to all TJ parents, but is especially designed for new parents.
