Welcome to SAC for the 2002-2003 school year. This web site is intended to keep you guys up-to-date on what we do in our meetings and act as a directory with emails for other people on SAC. This way, you can work amongst yourselves without having to call a meeting.

Snow Information:

• School Board Agenda Item regarding Snow Makeup Days from the desk of Brad Draeger, Assistant Superintendant, Human Resources.
• Basically, there are two choices: (1) Superintendant's Recommendation and (2) Alternative. They will be voted on at the School Board meeting on Thursday, March 13.
• The Superintendant's Recommendation is to make up one day on April 7, 2003 and add 30 minutes to the end of the school day from April 21, 2003 to May 16, 2003.
• The SAC Snow Day Resolution proposes that the days be made up on April 7, 2003 and June 23, 2003.
• On March 6, 2003, the alternative proposal was unanimously adopted by the Countywide Chair Group of the Student Advisory Council of Fairfax County Public Schools.
• Students are asked to express their opinions regarding the proposals to make up the missed days. Matt Wansley has provided a "practical guide" on How to get Your Voice Heard on the School Board.

Memos from the Superintendant, Dr. Domenech:

• February 14, 2003 - School Board Character Award. Applications are due April 10, 2003 and were distributed to your school's chairperson.
• March 7, 2003 - SAC Convention and Delegate Election Page 1, Page 2. The Convention will be held on April 9, 2003 at Robinson Secondary School.

          Student Representative to the Mathematics Curriculum Advisory Committee (MCAC), Steven Novick, has provided minutes from the November 18, 2002 meeting at Walnut Hill Center. (Word) - (HTML).

          The SAC Restructuring committee has completed the fourth draft of their proposal. This issue will be duscussed next week. Changes from the previous draft have been color-coded. The date of the student representative election was left vague in the draft,as it has not yet been decided. Click here to view this draft.

          Congratulations to Vinny Pande (West Springfield) who was elected Recording Secretary of the countywide SAC at the chairpersons' meeting on September 25, 2002. Vinny will be taking notes on the countywide meetings so we can post them here for all SAC members to view.
