Rules
USTSA Rules
Except where mentioned here, all rules in rated games will be played by official USTSA rules.
Modifications
The following are changes and clarifications to the USTSA rules as they apply to TJHSST rated games.
-
Deadball Changes and Clarification
- A ball dead between the goal and the defenders (even if it is behind the goalie) will be placed in the defender's possession, and restarted via normal restart rules.
- A ball dead between the middle line and the defenders will be reserved by the player whose attacking side the ball is on.
- A ball dead exactly on the middle line will be reserved by the player who last served.
-
Passing Changes
- The restrictions listed under "Passing" in the USTSA rules do not apply.
-
Spinning Clarification
- A spin shall be declared when the figure has rotated more than 360 degrees either before or after striking a ball while the rod is freely in motion. If a spin is declared, the opposing player can choose either to accept the play as is, or reserve the ball. A goal scored on a spin does not count; instead, the opposing player reserves the ball.
-
Serving Clarification
- A player may serve the ball in any fashion he or she wishes, however, at least one of his own figures must have struck the ball before a goal can be scored on the opponent. There are no restrictions on goals scored on the server.
