The
biotechnology department offers two preparatory classes for
Senior Research/Mentorship. DNA Science I is intended to
provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for
performing molecular biology research. The course focuses
on developing an understanding of critical concepts and
techniques of recombinant DNA technologies in experimental
biology. DNA Science II places emphasis on the biological
basis of human inheritance and the human genome project,
including its technological challenges and its implications for
biology, ethics, law, and society.
DNA Science I is a prerequisite for the Biotechnology Research
Laboratory's Mentorship Program. The class also serves as
a prerequisite for DNA Science II, which is only offered in the
spring semester. |
