News
3 February 2008 - Belated happy new year! I'm just dropping in to say this will probably be the last post here, as I'm transferring everything to sufitchi.com. Meh. Anyway, some interesting stuff. Here's a little comparison of the prettiest desktop/window managers I'm using. KDE 3.5 with Compiz Fusion (Vista themed at the moment) vs. Enlightenment 17 (using a dark version of its original theme, and imitating OS X to some degree).
My pick: Enlightenment 17. It's not uncommon for me to have an apache server, a Zope server, streaming music, and some torrent running at the same time. As this is a laptop, I'd rather not have fried legs. However, on a prospective strong desktop PC I will definitely use KDE 3.5 with Compiz Fusion.
Note: I mention KDE 3.5 specifically, as KDE 4.0 is not working on either of my computers, lags horribly, and is too Vista-ed by default. It also quarrels with Compiz and is rather unintuitive. I do NOT recommend KDE 4.0
3 December 2007 - World Domination Club
Check it out! The World Domination Club at TJ is a club dedicated to Diplomacy, a fun board game of cheating, lying and backstabbing your way to conquest of Europe. Feel free to drop in to a meeting. The next one is on Friday 14 December, I believe.
11/17/07 - Updates...
Just because I haven't been putting anything on the "News" section, it doesn't mean I haven't been working on stuff. First of all, I cleared all junk (at least from the user end), and I made my website even more incompatible with anything but Firefox. For instance, if the buttons on the left aren't round, then your browser fails. Get Firefox. Secondly, I made it much easier for me to update my Diplomacy games, so I guess I'll be doing that a lot more. Thirdly, you may have noticed the bouncing Firefox next to your cursor. If you didn't your browser sucks, once again. If it gets too irritating, click in the upper left corner, where there's a "toggle" link. I'm still trying to figure out how to make it not show up for Firefox users, but to show up twice as big for IE users. And to be untoggleable. Watch out! Or you could just:
Get Firefox.
07/22/07 - FIREFOX!!
My website is made to run in Firefox 2 and only tested for Firefox 2. If you have issues running it on other browsers, don't complain to me: GET FIREFOX! A way to know whether your browser sucks or not is: hover over the "Contents" menu on the left. If the buttons don't change color, get a new browser.
In other news, I'm making my own Puzzle. It's still under construction, so don't expect anything grand soon...
07/21/07 - CSS Redo
I'm redoing the CSS for my whole website and also including some neat
Javascript. Do a Ctrl+Shift+R to see changes.
07/05/07 - Site Refactor
As I have just found out about the koolio
<iframe> tag, I can now make my site decent without this improvised PHP content frame that I'm now using. Soon there will be an even newer fsufitch page.
In other news, guess who's going to try to set up Zope on the TJ server? I swear it's not me... >_>
06/16/07 - Long Time No See
Two months without a news post... This will hopefully not happen again. Now that I can actually have shell access to my server, I'll be able to update more often. So, a couple of announcements:
- There is now a Diplomacy part of the webpage, a more beautiful alternative to Harry's Dip tracker. I don't have all the Diplomacy games up and probably won't until the tracker leaves beta stage.
- Development on tjTalk is on a standstill. PHP, it turns out, is not the best language for this application. I've found Zope, but I don't have any place to do proper hosting for it. Anybody have a server without Apache on which I can have full access to port 80?
- Last but not least, some of the parts of my site are stale (finalwar, tjTalk). They might be DELETED!
04/06/07 - ####### tjTalk #######
Here's an idea for a useful tool for TJ: a forum for getting help with schoolwork. You can submit a question concerning schoolwork and have it answered soon by another member of the service or even a helpful teacher. There can even be a miscellaneous section to discuss events around TJ.
However brilliant or nice the idea might be, I need support implementing it. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome. Also, if you would like to co-develop it, e-mail me.
Another thing, if there is already something called tjTalk, notify me. I couldn't find anything, but I still don't want to steal somebody's project name ;)
If all goes well, tjTalk should be up and working for the 2007-2008 school year. Oh, the anticipation!
04/05/07 - Administrative Tools
Away from the sight of the public, I'm making my website be able to be updated WITHOUT NEEDING FTP! *gasp* This is the first sight of the result. This post was added using the Admin tools.
04/05/07 - New Look
Hey! Who took away the frames? I DID! I finally got rid of those clumsy things. Here's the new, slick sufitchi.com/filip.
04/04/07 - CSS
So I\'ve decided to finally learn the magic that is CSS. Expect bugs.
03/31/07 - First News Post
Well, this is the first news post to test the system. As you may have noticed (maybe not), my site s back up. For now it doesn't have that many features but it will soon. Have fun checking out the updates!
