The Eightfold Path

Preliminary Step- Right Association- Associate with people who practice values and attitudes you want to emulate.

  1. Right Knowledge- Understanding of the problem and its cure.

  2. Right Aspiration- We must want to seek this goal 
              
  3. Right Speech- Truth and charity in our speech.

  4. Right Behavior- Selflessness and charity.  Do not kill, steal, lie, and be unchaste (restraint for the married) or drink intoxicants.

  5. Right Livelihood- Choose an occupation that promotes life rather than one that destroys life.
 
  6. Right Effort- Will power and appropriate effort

  7. Right Mindfulness- Alertness, self awareness and self analysis.

  8. Right Absorption- Meditation
