Welcome to the home of the Disability Design Project (DDP). This page has all the information related to the DDP and its sub-projects.
The DDP is a project in which students in both the 9th grade Technology and Engineering Concepts (TEC) classes and Pre-Engineering classes are required to design a device that aids disabled people. Before this assignment, the students researched many topics about disabilties, as well as other projects:
- The students researched a disability related to a body system (nervous system > paralysis, respiratory system > asthma)
- They then created web pages about all these topics (see the pages here).
- In order to experience a disability, they had to wear slings for a week, in and out of school, and record what problems they had.
- The design project is the culmination of the whole unit; students built devices that aid people with disabilities.
The DDP homepage is a joint project of Reflex Software and Leaf Online.
