Septermber 9-13I am currently acclamating myself to the Computer Systems lab and expanding my web page with graphics. Otherwise, this week's goals include writing my project proposal and posting it on my site.
This week I expanded my webpage and actually wrote my project proposal. I have also gotten the chance to start researching Java, but I may change the language I focus on. I am looking at GTK+ as another option for the basis of my program.
I have been introduced to a new language, Tcl/Tk (or Tickle/TK) that seems much better suited to my project's needs. I will spend the week learning the language and brushing up my web page. Hopefully I can start some preliminary programming by next week or the following week.
Tck/Tk was soon replaced by Python. I plan on staying with this language, as it is very closely geared to the sorts of things I would like to do in my Computer Systems project. Python has canvas capabilities and buttons that would allow me to make a toolbar for my drawing program. I don't think I'll be creating any actual code until I get a feel for the language- this week's goal.
I kept going with Python this week, and while the introductory explainations are easy to understand, later tutorial subjects jump in and out of the realm of my knowledge. I am still trying to become oriented with the basic uses for Python, but I must seek other resources to explain the areas of the language that are brushed over by the tutorial I'm using. I will also fix my web page and fulfill all of the first quarter requirements.
The dates that title this log entry are misleading - due to schedule changes we are only in this class on October 17th. So today I plan to fulfill all of the First Quarter requirements... or at least to make a significant dent in what I still have to do.
I worked on my Latex document, and fixed various parts of my web-page. I also went to the Progress Reports that I needed to finish.
The end is near! I am working on Latex and finishing the little assignments needed. I also added some pictures to my web-page.
