MAKING A MOO - ITERATION PROGRESS REPORT #1

By Laura Strickman
IMPORTANT NOTE: This is the progress report for my old project, which I have since abandoned (for reasons, see my daily journal.

Plan I plan to research MOOcode and how MOOs are linked from computer to computer via telnet. During this iteration I also hope to research MOO clients, download the one I decide is best, and begin building my basic MOO (see Design & Coding).
Design & Coding For this iteration I hope to become acquainted with the basics of MOOcode and begin writing the basic parts of my MOO- namely, the process for creating and logging on as a character, the procedure for building different areas, and the description and travel functions. These will all be written in MOOcode.
Testing By the end of this iteration I should be able to test my MOO by logging on, creating a character, building a few rooms, and walking back and forth and talking with other characters. If all of this works properly, then the iteration has gone successfully.
Possible "Deployment" My MOO will possibly be ready for public use by the end of this iteration, but since I will not yet have used telnet to hook it up, it will not be accessable from computers outside the tech lab.
Users This MOO has a user base of anyone who can get online- it's a recreational project, so any English-speaking person with a little free time is a potential user.
