Currently enrolled TJHSST students and incoming freshmen/froshmores

Hours

8:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Tuition

$820 (full-year courses), $420 (semester courses)

Transportation

$275 (full-year courses), $138 (semester courses).
Pickup and drop-off times will be e-mailed after June 10.

All students are expected to provide their own transportation to a boarding site in Fairfax County and will need to indicate the boarding site when registering for transportation.

Refunds

Last day to receive a refund for Academic Summer School is July 10. This applies to transportation as well as to tuition. All refunds will reflect the amount of tuition, less $40 processing fee.

Refund requests must be received at ACE by close of business on July 10.

Attendance Requirement

Students are required to attend class daily for the duration of the entire course.

Attendance is mandatory to receive credit.
  • Students taking full-year classes will be automatically withdrawn if they are absent for more than 2 days (780 minutes), for any reason.
  • Students taking semester courses (20th Century History, America and the World Since 1989 ,Research Statistics, and TJ Math 5) will be automatically withdrawn if they are absent for more than 1 day (390 minutes), for any reason.
  • Attendance is recorded to the minute and all absences/tardies are cumulative.

Currently enrolled student

...register March 10-May 29. Applications may be downloaded starting March 10.

Please Note: Classes fill quickly on a first-come, first-served basis, and close when full.

Completed registration forms must be submitted in person to Elizabeth West in the main office (no faxed, emailed, or mailed applications will be accepted).

Incoming Freshman

Freshmen are only eligible to enroll in World History/Geography, Ancient Civilizations*, and Research Statistics. Please refer to the summer school course guide for class dates and prerequisites.

You may enroll in summer school courses in one of three ways:

  • On April 23
    • At Freshman Preview Night on April 23 at TJ, 5:00 to 9:00 pm. No incoming Freshman registrations accepted prior to April 23.
  • After April 23:
    • Hand-deliver registration to Elizabeth West at TJ Main Office (Door 8)
    • E-mail registration to Allison Bailey (AKBailey@fcps.edu) only if paying by credit card
*Ancient Civilizations is full as of April 24

Online Courses

FCPS operates independently from the TJHSST Summer School program.

FCPS Summer registration will open May 5, 2014.

  • Current TJ students should speak with their counselor.

Middle School Summer Tech Institute

Where

W.T. Woodson High School

When

July 13-August 7, 2015
Courses last for one week. Students may enroll in only one course per week.

What

One-week Science and Technology Courses (pdf) that explore some aspect of science and/or technology.

Who

Rising 8th and 9th graders (these courses are intended for students who will be 13-14 years old on or before September 30th, 2015)

Hours

8:30 AM to 2:00 PM

Tuition

$200 per week

Transportation

$55 per week. Pickup and drop-off times will be e-mailed after June 10.

Summer Tech Institute students must register for transportation through ACE. All students are expected to provide their own transportation to a boarding site in Fairfax County and will need to indicate the boarding site when registering for transportation.

Registration

Registration through ACE opens March 13, 2015 and ends May 1, or earlier if classes fill. Students registering after the deadline may be considered on a case-by-case basis. No walk-in registrations are accepted. Registration is online only.
