Computer Systems Techlab Project
Oral Presentations - 1 each quarter

  • Powerpoint slides can be used (you can use OpenOffice)
  • Screenshots/sample runs of your program
  • Overview of research you're doing
  • Include Report on other Research Paper(s)

    1. Title Page (on the overhead projector)

    2. Abstract and Introduction
      • Purpose/subject/goals of the project
      • Scope of your study and project
      • Types of results you expect

    3. Background research, similar projects/products
      • Background and review of current literature or research in this area.
      • Demonstrate that you have reviewed the background of your topic.
and what kinds of research have been done before in this area
      • How have others gone about trying to solve similar problems?
      • Is there a "state of the art" today?
      • Are there ways in which your approach builds on/varies from other's work?

    4. Development section, theory, procedures, algorithms you're using
      • Explain procedures/methods you're using to accomplish your objectives
      • Time line, overview of how your project is progressing
      • Demonstrate your design, programming, testing phases.
      • Did you have to identify resources that you needed.
      • Materials and programming language(s)/tools that were necessary,
        were graphics tools that needed?
      • Describe in detail any algorithms you are using
      • Was any data needed, how was this data collected?
      • How are you testing your progress? Error analysis?

    5. Results, analysis, and conclusions
      • Present results and analysis you are learning + visuals such as
        graphs/charts, screenshots, descriptions of results
      • Who may be interested in the results, can the results be applied?
        The "So What?" question
      • Analysis - give a summary of what the testing has shown you.
      • Describe the main points that you have learned, how about your original hypotheses?
      • What have you learned, has your original hypothesis/plan changed?
      • Any conclusions so far?

    6. References and Bibliography: list your references (at least 10 references?)
    7. Code development
      • Screenshots, output samples and analysis you can show?
      • Do you want to comment on levels your programming has gone into?
        - Did you have only 1 type of task, or did you
have multiple levels of programming problems.
      • What algorithmic development have you done?
