11/15/02: Surfin' the 'Net

As suggested by the title of this entry, I'm backing away from the coding for a second to start compiling the video clips I'll need for the museum.  I'm also trying to come up with a way to organize the museum, but I'll start out with finding all the pertinent video clips in the next two weeks to give myself an idea of what videos will be in the museum.  So I looked on the History Channel website for their tv schedule for the next two weeks.  The programs that might be useful for my project are as follows:

Date Time Program
Saturday 11/16 5:00pm - 6:00pm Modern Marvels: Then and Now - Apollo 13
Tuesday 11/19 9:00am - 10:00am A Day in their Lives: Empire State Building Ironworker
Tuesday 11/19 3:00pm - 4:00pm A Day in their Lives: Empire State Building Ironworker
Wednesday 11/20 9:00am - 10:00am A Day in their Lives: World War I Fighter Pilot
Wednesday 11/20 3:00pm - 4:00pm A Day in their Lives: World War I Fighter Pilot
Thursday 11/21 7:00am - 8:00am The Most: Heists/Battlefield Innovations/Destruction/Home Sweet Home/Wright Brothers' First Flight
Saturday 11/23 7:30am - 8:00am Vietnam: The Ten Thousand Day War - The Trail
Monday 11/25 9:00pm - 11:00pm Ronald Reagan: A Legacy Remembered
Thursday 11/28 8:00am - 8:00pm The Men Who Killed Kennedy series

Now, that that's done, I've come up with a list of possible categories and subcategories for the history videos (in no particular order since I'll be adding to it as they come to me):

  • World War I
  • World War II
  • Korean War
  • Vietnam War
  • Persian Gulf War
  • The Roaring Twenties
  • The Great Depression
  • The Cold War
  • The Space Race
    • Apollo 11: "The Eagle has landed..."
  • The Sixties
  • The Civil Rights Movement
    • Martin Luther King Jr.'s 'I Have a Dream Speech'
    • Assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.
    • Assassination of John F. Kennedy
  • Motion Picture History
  • Other Technological Innovations
    • The Wrights Brothers' First Flight
