04/05/03: Expected Phase of Completion by the End of the Year

Wow.  What an unbelievably original and succint title.  That was sarcasm, by the way.  Anyway, as for what I expect to have finished by the end of the year, I'm sure I'll be able to have the mouse routine working by then.  That means that when you click on an exhibit, the program will be able to open a window (I'm shying away from browser because none of the video files work in the Linux browsers, and the program won't work on my Windows machine.  Blargh.) and play the video indicated by the exhibit.

I also plan to have at least one exhibit per room; and if that goal can't be reached, there should be at least one exhibit per wing.  Speaking of wings, another thing that should be done by the end of the year is the the Technological Innovations wing.  The last thing that I can realistically expect to have up by the end of the year is the collision detection.  It's a long shot since I'm not really sure how to go about coding it at the moment, but it's conceivable that I could have it up.  It depends on how motivated I am come June. =)

Of course, this leaves out a great number of things I had originally planned to include; not the least of these include the Internet2 applications, the memorial courtyard, the plaques, and the museum-full of exhibits.  However, despite not reaching my original (and rather ambitious) goal, I'm really satisfied with how much I've managed to accomplish with this project, and I think by the end of the year it will reach a phase of acceptable closure.
