06/04/03: The Homestretch

Eight more days...less actually because no senior is going to come in on Prom.  Anyway, here I am, updating again.  Actually, I've gotten a lot accomplished in the past (almost) month...well okay, on the week of the Jazz Cabaret, we spent every class period trying to learn the routine.  But other than that, I've been working on the version of the museum containing the exhibits with links to Computer Systems Tech Lab Projects.  Also, I've managed to add collision detection to my program.  That one took a while...I had to borrow Turpyn's game programming in OpenGL book.  I ended up typing, like, three hundred lines of code for three classes and not needing any of them.  The only thing I needed from that book was one if statement--maybe two lines of code.  But the funny thing is that when I was modifying the code, I was doing it on one of the slower computers, so there was incredible lag time, and I thought it was because I was checking against every wall in the museum...And well, that is pretty inefficient, but on Aluminum, which is the computer I usually use, you can't even tell.

So now, basically, my plan for the rest of the year is to update my webpage...maybe add one or two progress reports...make some more video exhibits...*sigh*...and do the tech paper.  Also, I'll probably want to figure out a way to get this program to work on Windows because I like it so much...or maybe I'll install Linux on one of my home computers...that actually might be better.  Anyway, I'm off to update the rest of my website.
